Elena Lasco was a child prodigy of sorts in the former Soviet Union, where her playing led her to celebrity status. A virtuoso of classical as well as jazz piano, in 1989 she won praise from North American producer Quincy Jones, who considered her one of Russia’s most talented jazz artists. She has lived in Oslo, and since 2000, Spain, where she has been called to participate in different classical music and jazz festivals. She has travelled to London, a city where she debuted in the Conway Hall and Pizza Express Jazz Club in 2009. Jamboree patrons will enjoy listening to a pianist who expresses herself with impeccable swing.
